The following is a small list of the tools I use
frequently while optimizing sites. Feel free to
post others I may have missed or not yet know
about!
MUST USE TOOLS
McDar's
Keyword Analyzer
A keyword analyzer; tells you your current rank
on google, the number of pages google has found
for your website, and the allinanchor rating.
(The allinanchor ranking is based on the number
of links you have using the keyword you typed
in.)
McDar's
Datacenter Search
Search multiple datacenters
at the same time to compare results- very handy
when an update is being done and you are able to
see a head of time how the results probably will
pan out. This allows you to begin making
adjustments prior to the results being posted
live.
Digitalpoint's
Keyword Tracker
Easily the best program released for tracking
results in the google SERPs. Track hundreds of
keywords, keyword phrases, and websites page
content. This is a very useful tool for tracking
your overall progress on an SEO campaign.
WebmasterBrain's
Keyword Density Tool
You can easily check the density of the keywords
on any website. Most people believe a KW density
of 2% or less is generally the best way to go
for Google, and a bit higher density (5%-8%) is
useful in reaching high rankings in Yahoo.
OTHER USEFUL TOOLS
SEO-Guy's
SERPs Tool
This tool is used to find results from several different
engines at the same time. The positive thing about
this tool is that it isn't limited to just Yahoo!
and Google- you get results from MSN, AllTheWeb,
and Hotbot. Ofcourse, who searches from those anyway?
Oh- and the results are often times incorrect or
not even close at all.
